Parent Teacher Organization
The Juniata Gap PTO is a strong organization, built from the efforts of dedicated parents and teachers. The officers and committees along with a job description are listed below.
The Officers serve two-year terms, whereas the Committee chairpersons are 1-year terms. Parent participation and commitment to the PTO is appreciated. The chairperson of each committee is responsible for attending the PTO meetings and updating the membership on the activities of that committee. When a parent volunteers in any school setting (including field trips), their full attention must be given to the students. When volunteering, bringing a baby or other children is not permitted for safety reasons. All volunteers must have a volunteer application (available in the office), proof of a negative TB test on file in the main office, and be school board-approved.

Officer Responsibilities

- Presides over the organization and executive meetings, sets the agenda for all meetings, coordinates, proposes, and schedules organization events.

- Oversees programs and sets up the equipment necessary for each meeting, must be prepared to represent and perform the duties of the President.

Treasurer
- Maintains custody of all organization funds, provides a written report of all financial transactions at each meeting, and makes disbursements in accordance with the approved budget.

Secretary
- Maintains a record of the minutes of all meetings.
Committees

5th Grade Party
- Coordinates food to be ordered and/or party decorations and supplies

5th Grade Yearbook
- Makes the yearbook with yearbook club, getting ads and good luck lines

Carnival and Movie Day
- Plans, organizes, and sets up events for carnival day

Day of the Arts
- Contacts and schedules presenters, organizing volunteers, coordinating lunch, making the daily schedule of events, making the program and School Board invites

Fundraising
- Sets up fundraising event, organizing volunteers to count fundraiser, and distribution of fundraiser

Membership & Scholarship
- Conducts the annual membership drive; responsible for interviewing applicants and selecting the recipients of the annual scholarships

Spirit Wear
- Plans, organizes, and sets up events for spirit wear

Staff and Community Relations
- Oversees the communication between parents, teachers and staff (examples - teacher/staff appreciation day)

- Coordinates the Scholastic Book Fair

- Coordinates sports-related activities, including scheduling of teams practices, uniforms and pictures
