Mrs. Emilie Hileman

Hello! I am Mrs. Emilie Hileman. I have been teaching in the Altoona Area School District at Juniata Gap Elementary for 16 years as a Learning Support Teacher. I attended Penn State University, University Park and obtained my Bachelors Degree in Special Education K-12. I also completed my Masters Degree at Gannon University in the area of Curriculum and Instruction. After furthering my education, I then went on to obtain my Dyslexia Practitioner Certificate with Wilson Reading. 

 

I believe that each child is a unique individual with individual intelligences who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a teacher to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an atmosphere that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ones own ideas. For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my student, as I share my own passion for learning with them.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my children and friends.
