Welcome to Mrs. Kent's Page

Hello. My name is Mrs. Lisa Kent. I am one of three Special Education Learning Support Teachers here at Juniata Gap Elementary School. I mainly work with students in Kindergarten through Second Grade in the areas of math, reading, and writing. I have been a member of the Altoona Area School District teaching staff for 20 years, 19 of which have been right here at Juniata Gap. To prepare for my teaching career, I attended the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) to receive a Minor in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Education, and a Master of Education Degree in Special Education. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work in the field of education which is not only my chosen career path but also my passion. I look forward to working with both you and your child to ensure that he/she has every opportunity to become the best student he/she can be.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time and creating great adventures and special memories with my husband (Shawn), son (Aidan), and daughter (Ava).

“I call my students ‘my kids’ because in our year together, they aren’t just kids on my class list, they become a part of my heart.”
